Pictured is the LCD connector ribbon cable used  to connect the cluster LCD to the cluster circuit board. Many times the old connector looses spring pressure, corrodes, or a wire breaks, rendering the LCD inoperative. Also if your LCD is flickering on and off when hitting bumps the connector may be at fault. The cable solders to the cluster board and the LCD pins plug into it. Note that delamination of the LCD chip or fractures in the LCD glass may cause similar issues.
