Vintage 1950’s Gay Gibson Party Dress, Short Formal; Bright Pink Taffeta.

Beautiful Bright Pink Party dress for a junior sized girl. Lovely moire taffeta. Believe it or not- I hand washed this dress in my front loader and it turned out very nicely. The taffeta lost some of its rigidity, but not like acetate taffetas usually do. So I’m not sure if the fiber content. It is remarkably nice. It will need another cleaning, however, as there is a lingering musty odor. It comes from a smoke free home.

The bodice is quite fitted with a center front seam and front princess seams; a nice touch is a sweetheart neckline supported by wide 2” straps. The back is straight across. 1/8” piping joins bodice and skirt. Bra strap keepers on underside of straps. Bodice is not lined, but faced.

The skirt is amazing! The three separate circular skirts are attached to strips of moire that join to the one above it. Each level of skirt has a turned under 3/4” hem finished in overlock. Skirt is not lined but has a separate half slip done up in cotton. It has bias edge at waist and is secured with a snap.

Side metal zipper is 11.5” long.
