Infrared filters are great fun to play with and produce some really cool effects. Please note that the filter appears black/red to the naked eye, and in order to get these filters to work you must have a long exposure, play with the light settings on your camera, the white balance as well as editing the image after in programs such as lightroom / photoshop etc. IR filters aren't for everyone, and they do take a little getting used to, however they are great fun once you get the hang of them.

I currently have three types available which block varying amounts of the visible light spectrum.

R72 720nm Pass - this allows some colour through and is a great all-round filter with great scope for creating great effects
R85 850nm Pass - this blocks almost all visible light for fantastic black and white effects with real depth. Is better at creating the white foliage than the R72 at the expense of longer exposures.
R95 950nm Pass - this is at the top end of the spectrum for the most dramatic effects. This is fantastic for black and white photography creating huge depth to images and giving textures improved contrasts.

Personally I would recommend getting two filters - probably the 720 and one of the other two. Depending on your subject they can create very different results so having one of each in your arsenal will give you that flexibility. Otherwise the 850 is a good middle ground.
