This uncirculated 2,000 Cape Verdean escudo banknote is a standard circulation banknote issued by the Bank of Cape Verde. It is a blue banknote that is dated 1 July 1999, bear the signatures of Vasco Marta and Oswaldo Miguel Sequiera, and measures 142 mm x 71 mm. Both sides of the banknote are vertically oriented. Its obverse side shows a portrait of poet Eugenio Tavares and a holographic open book with a pen. Its reverse side depicts a Cardeal (cardinal) flower and lines from “Moma aguada” by Tavares. Security features include a 4-mm windowed security thread with a demetalized BCV 2000 and the nib of a pen, a fountain pen registration device, and a watermark of Eugenio Tavares with an electrotype 2000. The note was demonetized in 2017.
