This is an interesting piece, measuring 13.75 in in length. It has polished up well, and shows the contrasting signs of wear to the silver-plate, especially along the rim of the blade. It has 2 simple repetitive hallmarks, one being "Gil-bert" over 2 lines in cursive script.

My research showed American silversmith William W Gilbert (1746 - 1832) signed his work using the same cursive spelling. It would make this piece very old and account for the more unusual and fewer number of hallmarks. Up to you to decide!
