■ BTL circuit & large speaker
By installing a BTL amplifier in the low-frequency output circuit and a large 36φ speaker, it achieves a loud AF output of 150mW or more. Comfortable reception is possible even outdoors or in a car.
■ Power save function
Equipped with a power save function that reduces current consumption by greatly shortening the time required to detect the presence or absence of a received signal. Also, when AUTO is selected, the duty ratio is automatically changed if there is no signal for about 1 minute from the power save start, reducing battery consumption during standby.
Approximately 19 hours *2 reception is possible with alkaline batteries
The included Ni-MH (nickel-metal hydride) battery provides approximately 15 hours*1 of reception. With alkaline batteries, it is possible to receive for a long time of about 19 hours*2, which greatly exceeds the IC-R5's about 10 hours (when using alkaline batteries).

■ Sky line canceller*
Equipped with an empty line canceller that eliminates annoying empty line signals that can be heard when you are not on a call. In addition, the IC-R5's empty line canceller has been strengthened (Train2 has been added), making it possible to receive railway radios more comfortably. Of course, it also supports MSK control signals used in MCA radio, etc., and has a full range of signaling functions.

■ VSC function (voice squelch control)
