An original watercolour and ink on artists board, signed and dated by Faith Jaques (1923-1997), for the cover of 'Mr Tick the Teacher' written by Alan Ahlberg, and first published by Puffin in 1981 (please note that the book is not included within the sale and the photo from the book is included for illustrative purposes only).  The watercolour is mounted and ready for framing.

Faith Jaques was a popular children's book illustrator, who illustrated books by among others, Edith Nesbit, Andrew Lang, and Roald Dahl.  Her archive, including original artwork are held in the collections of 'Seven Stories', the centre for children's books based in Newcastle upon Tyne. As such, Jaques illustrations for children's books, especially watercolours, are particularly hard to come by.

I recommend looking at Chris Beetles website for further information on Jaques and to compare prices on the artwork.
