Each Locknesters owl is both an intriguing sculpture and a jigsaw puzzle born of artist Fleet Hower's interest in art that encourages interaction. Sculptures are digitally designed and 3-D printed in the Brooklyn NY studio. Surfaces of each of its pieces are barrel tumbled, hand sanded, and buffed for a smooth, polished feel and ease of reassembly. During the smoothing process, every piece obtains distinct coloration. A water-based topcoat seals and protects the piece.
Locknesters are high quality designer toys. Locknester are manufactures out of nontoxic bioplastic and no chemicals are used during the surface smoothing process. Locknester are produced using a blend of old and new manufacturing techniques.
Each owl is comprised of five interlocking pieces.
