As predicted, the Honda FourTrax
400EX has turned the ATV world
upside down. Since its introduction
just two short years ago, the 400EX
has enjoyed phenomenal sales,
invaded the nation's racetracks,
spawned a new aftermarket boom,
and most importantly, it has inspired
other manufacturers to jump on the
revitalized high-performance ATV
bandwagon.
For most of the '90s, ATV sport and
high-performance enthusiasts were
forced to depend upon the few
remaining models that hadn't
changed much from the late '80s. In
effect, this stagnation seemed to feed
itself-the manufacturers
would say "Well, according to sales
figures, the sport market really isn't
that hot," and the enthusiasts would
reply, "What do you expect, when
you don't give us anything new or
better?"
