Publisher: The Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge (SDUK) was one of the most ambitious educational projects of the nineteenth century.
Founded in 1826, mainly at the instigation of Lord Brougham.
With the object of publishing information to people who were unable to obtain formal teaching or who preferred self-education.
The organization was committed to using the latest techniques and technologies to produce accurate and informative maps, and its maps were highly regarded for their quality and detail.
