Chinese Export Silver Cream Jug and Sugar Bowl - Antique Circa 1900

Description

This fine antique Chinese Export Silver (CES) cream jug and sugar bowl have an circular rounded form onto a collet foot.

This antique silver sugar bowl and cream jug have a planished finish and are embellished with embossed bamboo decoration.

The decoration to each piece incorporates a vacant circular cartouche to one side.

These pieces both feature a plain Chippendale style rim, incorporating a plain flared lip on the cream jug.

Each component of this fine cream and sugar set is fitted with plain angular handles.

The hallmarks struck to the underside of this each piece include:

Maker"s mark: SCo (Xian Shi, Sincere & Co.)

Silver quality/purity mark: .85 (850/1000)

CharaCter mark: xianshi (other remains untraced)

Condition

This antique silver sugar bowl and cream jug are very good gauges of silver, fine quality and in excellent presentation condition.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of each piece are very clear.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of these examples of Chinese teaware.
