AML ez1081-pre (API 500) [Neve 1073/1081 clone / Carnhill in-&output transformers]

Due to changes in my studio-setup I'm able to sell a faithful recreation of a Neve 1081 Class A/B microphone preamplifier by AML (Audio Maintenance Limited UK) in API/VPR 500 Series form factor (1 slot). Built and tested by electrical engineers with audio expertise using the finest parts available to match original Neve manufacturing, including Carnhill Transformers. Everyone that's into Neve or 500 Series knows the quality of AML clones, you can find a detailed description & specs below.

A YouTube review/comparison of the pre amp with electric guitar can be found below the description of the listing you're reading. Unfortunately I can't link to any in-depth reviews because Reverb removes all external web links in item descriptions (for security reasons, I guess).

SPECIFICATIONS:

----

The ez1081-pre is a 500 series version of a classic Class A/B mic-pre with Carnhill input and output transformers.

This is anything but transparent. Thick low end, clear detailed top, and forward transient focus that defines the original modules. The ez1081 will surprised you by getting aggressive without sounding anaemic, which can be a problem you may find in Neve clones. It maintained the characteristic thickness all the way to the end of the dial. Like the ez1073 is has a very large dynamic output, very punchy, graceful sound perfect for instruments and vocals.

features:

~~ Input: Carnhill transformer balanced (Classic VTB9045) +10dB to +65dB gain, rotary switchable in 5dB steps and switchable 300/1200 Ohm impedance input.

~~ Output: Carnhill transformer balanced (Classic VTB2568 full size output transformer)

~~ Grayhill Rotary Switch

~~ Phantom and polarity switches

API (and compatible) Lunchbox and VPR500 racking systems.
