This is a beautiful planter - too beautiful to cover up.  It is painted with red crested herons, chrysanthemums, cherry blossoms and koi fish.  The golden koi fish are painted inside swimming amongst greenery.  If you read all the symbolisms that this planter possesses you will understand the importance this is in China and why this planter pot is so popular.  Hand painted, numbered and stamped, it measures 10" tall and 11.5" wide.  This pot is so beautiful, it could sit on a stand and be covered with a small piece of glass and used as a patio side table to show the world its beauty.  I suspect it is painted inside is to still show all the good fortune it could bring.

Chrysanthemums symbolize friendship, happiness, and well-being.  In China, herons were also a symbol of good fortune.  Cherry blossoms are a symbolic flower of the spring, a time of renewal, and the fleeting nature of life.   They symbolize strength as well as good fortune, especially with wealth. The Chinese also represent the koi fish as the yin and yang symbol, meaning balance.
