In addition to balancing quality and price, this compostable pint glass has these many great features and above all is a sustainable raw material. The glasses are clearly marked compostable to differentiate them from regular single use plastics.
PLA is made from a sustainable source and will degrade faster than any fossil-based plastic. As such, it may be considered a good thing. However, it is important to note that PLA does not biodegrade like a banana skin – it will not degrade on your compost heap, in the sea, or as litter. To decompose within three months, it requires temperatures in excess of fifty degrees Celsius – conditions that are only found at specialised commercial composters. No product containing PLA should be dropped as litter or put in recycling bins.
