This exceptional antique Japanese silver bowl has a circular rounded form onto a plain circular spreading collet foot.

This bowl has a double skin, as to be expeCted for this type of high quality silverware.

The surface of this fine antique presentation bowl is embellished with impressive applied Japanese cherry blossom/sakura designs.

The shaped rim of the bowl is encompassed with an applied moulded border.

The underside of the bowl is ornamented with the contemporary engraved inscription "To Mr & Mrs G Osborn from Mr & Mrs K Okura, 1917"*.

Maker"s mark: charaCter mark for "Miya Moto Made" (Miyamoto Made, Miyamoto Shoko**)

Silver quality/purity mark: charaCter mark with dark background (pure silver, 1000/1000)

* There is a strong probability, that K Okura refers to Kihachiro Okura (or possibly his son, Kishchiro Okura), founding members of Okura Shukokan, the Tokyo Art Museum, established in 1917.

** Miyamoto Shoko, silversmiths since 1880, created items for the Japanese Government and Royal family, and handled pieces made by the nation"s top-class craftsment in the early 1900"s - as such, they were highly esteemed.
