This is original collection from 1930s old Shanghai, CHINA.

This vintage decorative poster is an Advertisement for A Tobacco Company, which featuring a gentle Chinese girl in her gorgeous traditional Chinese Chi-pao (cheong-sam), padding a horse exuding tenderness and love through her beautiful eyes. The company logo is also displayed on the up top middle the poster, with different international brands and companies the company distributes and services underneath. This is a very intriguing image to be studied up close.

The quality of the paper is really good and smooth, when you touch it you will feel the difference of it. In addition, all the details in the picture are stunning, which show the sophisticated printing technique at that time.

Story of 1930 Shanghai:

As the most sophisticated and ‘modern’ urban centre in China, Shanghai in the 1920s and 1930s came to be known in the West as the "Paris of the East", "Capital of the tycoon", and "Paradise of adventurers".

Yet, as a ‘semi-colonial’ city, Shanghai also was a city of competing political jurisdictions and a cultural matrix of worldwide modernity. As a site of material modernity and new forms of visual culture, criminality, and an exploited factory work force, as well as the nostalgia , 1930s Shanghai has its own inimitable charm for all over the world, attracting various business, trading, and manufacturing companies and people gathering and competing here. All these factors give  the mysterious, splendid and glorious to old Shanghai Golden Era of 1930s.

PICKUP and Pay by EFTPOS IS Possible at our Sydney Showroom.
