Autor: Robert Powell Vaughan (*1592 – †1667)
              was an eminent Welsh antiquary and collector of manuscripts. His collection, later known as the Hengwrt–Peniarth Library from the houses in which it was successively preserved, formed the nucleus of the National Library of Wales, and is still in its care.

Description: Robert Vaughan's map of the World, which first appeared in the 1628 edition of Sir Francis Drake's The World Encompassed. Decorative elements include portraits of Sir Francis Drake, Ferdinand Magellan, Thomas Cavendish, and Olivier van Noort, armillary sphere, birds, elephant, ship, figures representing water, fire, air, and earth, and illustrations of eclipses of the moon and sun.
