Large and unusual copper engraved map of Ré island (France) by Vincenzo Maria Coronelli (1650-1718),

with an angel bearing the arms of the island and the dedicace to, titled : "Dedicata All'Illustrissimo et Eccellentissimo Sig Polo Giustinian Lolin, Senatore Amplissimo Dal P. Cosmografo Coronelli".

"Isola del Ré, Nel Mare di Guascogna".

The person for whom the card was made is written in large characters, but the author wrote his name in small characters, out of humility. The angel announces loud and clear the name of M. Lolin but the author has not received in time the information on its armories to put them in the coat of arms On the are mentioned the strongholds, and two ships on the "Mer du Fief".

Condition : very good condition, on strong paper, a small foxing on back, well engraved, hand color.


The famous geographe Vincenzo Coronelli, was an inventor and a doctor of Theology, he was Citizen of the Republic of Venice. He was the most prominent mapmakers and Publishers in Europe of his time. He is very famous for his very large Globes realised for the King Louis XIV.
