The Apollo 11 launched from the Kennedy Space Centre in July 1969 on board a Saturn V rocket to send the first humans to the moon's surface. Not only did the mission leave historic footprints on the lunar surface, it also gathered important samples and placed various scientific instruments. At the end of the 8-day mission, the 3 astronauts safely returned to earth.
This is a model of the Command Module of the Apollo 11 space craft, reduced to a scale of 1:70.
The Apollo 11 made the first successful landing on the moon in the history of mankind. This happened on the 21st of July, 1969.
The Apollo 11 consist of three sections: The Command Module, the Service Module and the Lunar Excursion Module (LEM). It was launched by the free world’s most powerful rocket, namely Saturn V. As shown in Fig. A, the space craft is situated at the top of Saturn V. The small escape rocket at the very top was jettisoned after the sucessful laughing. The first three stages of Saturn V were used to achieve an earth orbit and to direct the space craft towards the Moon. These were then discarded and the space craft alone sped on its way.
Among the Modules, the Command Module served three essential purposes during the long trip from earth to Moon and back again. It was a living compartment where the three astronauts ate their meals and slept. It also served as their working area where they received commands from the Control Centre on Earth and transmitted their observations back to the Earth. Lastly, the most important mission performed by the Module was that it successfully transferred the crew from the LEM after the latter’s descent onto and return from the Moon’s surface. It then brought all the astronauts safely back to Earth.
Up for sale is a important, rare & beautiful 1/70 Apollo spacecraft model kit, this is the 1st motorized version released in 1969 with English instruction manual which sell in the US market, comes with both command module & service module with lots of detailed plastic injection parts, wire and a RE-14 motor included! Truly a exceptional awesome kit made by Tamiya.

• Box is in VERY POOR condition - dirty with stains, yellowed box, few scratches & scuff marks, shelf wear & dent.
• Content : Complete, all parts are still sealed in plastic bags, scratches and damage on dirty plastic bag, some parts had separated from the sprue.
• Kit includes both Command Module & the Landing Module.
• 5 x Astronauts and 2 x display stand included.
• English version Instruction manual - yellowed, dirty with stains.
• RE-14 motor included(the motor has been tested and confirm it is in working order).
• 2 x Decals sheet seems in very poor condition, not sure if it is working fine so buyers please put this into your consideration.
• Model can be hanging down from the ceiling by attaching the string provided for flying motion.
• Powered by 2 x UM-3 batteries (NOT INCLUDED)
• The AAA-size battery appears in photo #3 is just for scale only, NOT included in this sales.
• A very impressive and beautiful kit that is nicely reproduced. A must have item for both model builder and collector!
