As the Royal Canadian Mint focuses their attention on commemorating the reign of Queen Elizabeth II (1952-2022), the Mint will not be issuing any 2023-dated Canadian circulation coins featuring both the traditional reverse designs and an obverse featuring Queen Elizabeth II. Instead, the Royal Canadian Mint is offering a collector’s edition of these annual issues.
The 2023 Collector’s Edition Special Wrap Roll Collection contains non-circulation coins only—coins designated as collectibles, so they’re not meant to be found in your pocket change. Every Collector’s Edition coin in this set features the transition obverse that pays tribute to Queen Elizabeth II, as we mark the end of a reign—and the end of an era in Canadian coins.
