The insurgents who use terrorist tactics such as bombings, shootings, ambush, suicidebombings,grenades, rockets and poisonous weapons against the civilian population as well as the security agents in Nigeria is undoubtedly one of the greatest security challenges currently bedeviling Nigeria. These unimaginable war crimes against humanity perpetrated by the insurgents visvis terrorist groups include: murder, torture, rape, assassination, forcedmarriage, abduction,hostagetaking, displacement, arson, poisoning and many more. The focus of this work is to critically appraise the origin, forms, causes, activities, consequences and implications of the prevailing insurgency/terrorism and insecurity in Nigeria and also suggest realistic solutions. The work utilized primary and secondary sources of data from the existing literature, including books and journal articles as well as Focus Group Discussion (FGD) for the qualitative analysis of these worrisome situations in Nigeria. The work strongly recommends for multidimensional and comprehensive approaches for sustainable peace and sociopolitical stability, economic reform, goodgovernance void of corruption.
