Rare Burns Baldwin Model 524 Hank Marvin Signature is now in stock.

This model was introduced in 1964 as the signature model of "Hank Marvin", the lead guitarist of "The Shadows", which gained high popularity in England from the late 50's to the 60's as Cliff Richard's backing band or a 4-piece instrumental band. This model was introduced in 1964.

This model was made in 1967, after Burns was acquired by Baldwin, a famous piano manufacturer in the U.S., in 1965.

The body shape is reminiscent of a Stratocaster, and the tortoiseshell pickguard is mounted in a separate section.

The neck is a bound maple neck with dot position marks on the fingerboard, and the characteristic head is a three-on-three scroll head, which was the idea of Hank Marvin.

The pickups are the original "REZ-O-MATIK" with a 3-way switch and 1Vol & 2Tone control layout, which is also influenced by the Stratocaster.

The "Rezo-Tube" tremolo unit mounted on the lower part of the body is also a major feature, with individual tubes for each string passing through from the back of the body, hence the name of the unit.
The "Rezo-Tube" tremolo unit is also a distinctive feature, as is the arm rest mounted so that the player's arm does not interfere when using the instrument.

Nut and frets have been replaced.
The switch knob and control knob may also have been replaced.
The pots are original, but have been disassembled and cleaned inside in the past.

The neck is in good condition and has been refretted, so it is in good playing condition.
The case is non-original, but comes with the molded case that was included with Burns London guitars after the 1992 remanufacture.

Serial Number: 20694
Test Date: 20 FEB 1967
Weight: 3.45kg
with Non Original Hard Case
