Oriental Zigzag Or, Wanderings in Syria, Moab, Abyssinia, and Egypt. By Charles Hamilton and published in London by Chapman and Hall. 1875, 304 pp, 5.5x8.5’’, hardcover binding, 8vo.

In fair condition. Covers and spine have minimal age-related toning and edgeware. Ex-library from the Bigelow Free Public Library, with the name and information on the front cover, the Dewey Decimal number on the spine, some dates stamped in purple ink on the front inside cover, the name stamped onto several pages, and checkout information on the last page. Some wear caused by what seems to be a sticker on the front inside cover, as pictured. Pages have age-related toning and foxing that has extended onto the page edges. Hinges have some wear, but pages remain attached and generally have good support. Please see photographs and ask any questions prior to purchasing.

A well-illustrated, scarce volume on one man’s travels throughout Syria, Moab, Abyssinia, and Egypt. This volume would make a great addition to the personal collection of anyone interested in travel memoirs from the late nineteenth century. Any issues with hinges or binding due to age or wear could provide an excellent opportunity for restoration or rebinding, if desired.
