Bucha, Irpin, Hostomel - cities that will forever be imprinted in the genetic memory of Ukrainians as places where, at the beginning of the full-scale invasion, fierce battles with the enemy took place, the Russian occupiers committed mass murders of the civilian population, abused people, and engaged in total destruction. Despite extremely difficult tests, Bucha, Irpin and Hostomel not only survived, but also became shields for the capital of our country, preventing the enemy from occupying Kyiv. In March 2022, by decision of the President of Ukraine, these cities were awarded the honorary distinction of "Hero City".

On March 31, Ukrposhta will present the postal block "We will not forget! We will not forgive! Butch Irpin Hostomel", dedicated to these hero cities. Redemption of the "First Day" will traditionally take place at the Kyiv General Post Office. Special repayment will take place in Irpin, Bucha and Hostomel.

The postage stamps of the block depict documentary photos of a destroyed column of enemy vehicles on Vokzalnaya Street in Bucha, the crossing of the Irpin River, which was the main evacuation route for the civilian population, and a picture of the world's largest transport aircraft AN-225 "Mriya" at the airfield in Hostomel, which destroyed by the invaders. In addition, the design of the block uses the image of red and white signal tape, which is traditionally used to fence off crime scenes.

The edition of the block is limited to 100,000 copies. An envelope "First Day" with an illustration of a diagram showing the direction of the Russian troops' offensive on Kyiv from the direction of Bucha, Irpin, and Hostomel was delivered to the post office. The artistic envelope for the release features a photo collage of images from the front pages of the world newspapers "I", "Metro", "Daily Express", "Daily Mirror", "The Guardian", "Daily Mail", "The Times", "Financial Times" , which covered these events. The art cards were produced in collaboration with the Ukrainian Institute of State University and the creative agency "Kiyfornia" and are part of the "Postcards from Ukraine" project, which tells the world about the destroyed cultural heritage of Ukraine.

The blog uses the materials of RFE/RL photo correspondent Serhii Nuzhnenko and photographer Mykhailo Jos. The author of the image of the postage stamp dedicated to Hostomel is the artist Oleksandr Nikityuk.
