This volume contains papers that pertain to the dispatch from the Court of Directors of the East India Company to the President and Select Committee of Supracargoes at Canton, an Extract Letter to Canton, Reverend Mr. Gutzlaff's Report of Proceedings on a Vottage to the Northern Ports of China, and a Report of Proceedings on a Voyage to the Northern Ports of China, provided by Hugh Hamilton Lindsay. Lindsay was an English businessman who showed a great interest in China. He later served as the secretary for the East India Company in Canton in 1830.
