For sale is this vintage early 20th century bronze casting sculpture of the classic American farmer. They are the backbone of our society now and have been since the very beginning of our country. He is posed in a reflective state with his head held high as he views his fields or the coming weather that  determined his success or failure with the annual crops. The wardrobe is classic with the over the shoulder overalls and boots. This is a one of a kind sculpture, not a production piece and is finished in a rich semi transparent brown patina that has only increased in its depth over the many years of oxidation. Like so many of the early sculpted works of art the artist is not known. I have looked for foundry or artist marks but have yet to find one.  This was purchased years ago at a collector’s estate sale and has been proudly displayed along with my other bronze sculptures for over 12 years. I did have the hardwood base refinished and added a new felt pad to the underside (photo #10) It is time to downsize and many of my valued art works are up on Ebay. The sculpture is 12 ½ inches tall with the base and 10 ½ without. It is 4 ¼ inches deep by 5 inches wide. Please see the photos as they are an important part of this description.
