This alabaster statue of Athena, the Greek goddess of war, wisdom, and handicraft, measures approximately 11 inches, but with her spear the overall height is closer to 12 inches.  The statue is in excellent condition.  In Roman mythology, Athena is known as Minverva.  The Greek goddess was the protector of many cities, and temples to her were built on fortified hills of cities, e.g. the Parthenon on the Acropolis of Athens.  Athena was an important figure in both the ILIAD and the ODESSEY.
