Description

Thank you for visiting my listing.  I specialize in the restoration of vintage violins.  Most of my violins are "Trade Era" violins which were produced between 1860-1930.  That said the violins I have for sale average 120 years old.  Many of my violins spent decades in an attic long forgotten about before I purchased and restored the instrument. My typical restoration consist of removing the top plate to cleate any open cracks or open seams.  Fingerboards are freshly dressed, neck angles set, new quality bridge fitted.  All violins are cleaned to remove the years of rosin buildup across the table.  Finally new ebony fittings with Dominant strings are installed with a single fine tuner on the E string.  I do ship the additional 3 fine tuners and will gladly pre install them upon request.

If you have questions about one of my violins feel free to contact me.  My name is Chad Clark and I live in Haines, Alaska. I have been restoring violins for 12 years now with over 200 violins restored. I typically have 10-20 violins in my shop in the restoration process.  I will do my best to answer your questions and help you pick the best vintage violin/fiddle for you. I do accept returns.  It is best if you let me know what you are looking for and I can help direct you to the perfect fit.  My email is Chad (at) thevintageviolin.com

The violins I restore naturally range from the powerful and bold concert soloist to the mellow and rich desired by most old time fiddlers. If you are looking for a particular sound or tone please contact me and I will be glad to give you my impression of the instruments I currently have available.  Thanks for visiting my listing.  -Chad
