Fokker F.VII (Dutch Fokker F.VII) is a passenger aircraft manufactured by Fokker.
Designed by Anton Fokker. The first flight took place in 1924. Modifications were built - F.VIIa, F.VIIb-3m. The Fokker F.VII is a three-engine high-wing aircraft of the classical design. Several dozen aircraft were built by Fokker and under license. On this plane, the first flight of a woman across the Atlantic (as a passenger) was made. The first aircraft in the world to cover 80% of the way to the North Pole.
With the development of air communications, the need for an aircraft with a long range and capacity has increased. In December 1923, Dutch entrepreneur Anthony Fokker signed a contract with the KLM airline to build an 8-seat long-range aircraft. One of the conditions of the contract: a monoplane without struts, with a compact engine and landing gear. The aircraft was designed by a group of designers led by engineer Walter Rethel.
When designing a new aircraft, the F.5 aircraft was taken as the base. The new aircraft was built in January 1924 and was named F.VII. The first flight took place on April 11, 1924. Prototype tests were carried out jointly with the pilots of the KLM airline. In the summer, the pilot operation of the aircraft took place on the busiest routes of the airline.
