HAND-PAINTED SAMANTABHADRA TIBETAN THANGKA, THANKA PAINTING

THIS IS AN ORIGINAL PAINTING NOT A PRINT

The Samantabhadra is Bodhisattva associated with Buddhist practice and meditation. Samantabhadra is described as the “primordial Lord of unchanging light, the central origin of all mandalas, possessing the ocean of knowledge and pristine awareness”. In this thangka painting, Buddha Shakti is depicted embracing his consort Samantabhadri in Yab-Yum, the sacred union. The color of his skin is Always blue and he sits naked in a 'vajra' posture, with his two hands placed on his lap in the gesture of meditation.

Buddha Shakti is the representation of the original nature of the mind and a symbol of unity between awareness and compassion.
