Another Kind of Empathy echoes a short essays by Harun Farocki published in 2008. In it the author set out a new approach to his filmic practice. He proposed a mixture of Eindringen (to penetrate) and Mitfühlen (to sympathize) as a way of leaving behind the deromanticized attitudes of the past. Einfühlung (Empathy) is included in this publication along with several other essays and references to his films and installations from 1966 to 2014.
