Seiko 5 Sports The New Regatta Retro Colour Collection Automatic Mens Watch SRPK13K1

The design of this Seiko 5 Sports The New Regatta SRPK13K1 pays tribute to the popular Seiko 5 Sports watches from the late 1960s which were a firm fan favourite.

Blending novelty and heritage, the overall appearance integrates contemporary and traditional elements. The dial and hands showcase innovative designs, consistent within the Retro Colour collection. The case takes inspiration from the SKX series, while the bezel mirrors the original 1960s models. Notably, the case back bears an engraving labeling it as a ‘Special Edition.’

This specific timepiece draws its inspiration from the 6119-6050, the original ‘Regatta Timer’ launched in the late 60s.

For over fifty years, Seiko 5 Sports watches have maintained a reputation for reliability, durability, performance, and value. The numeral ‘5’ signifies the enduring inclusion of the five core attributes that continue to define every Seiko 5: automatic movement, day-date display, water resistance, recessed crown, and a sturdy case and bracelet.

The Case:

The Seiko 5 Sports SRPK13K1 comes in a 42.5mm stainless steel case with a brushed finish. Sporting a two-tone unidirectional rotating bezel, it exhibits a traditional diving scale with the first 20 minutes being graduated in red. The bezel’s grooved walls ensure easy operability. Positioned at 4 o’clock, a push-down crown is flanked by protective guards on either side, preventing displacement. Notably, the case features hardlex crystal, renowned for being scratch and shatter resistant.

The Dial:

The dial features an inner bezel that exhibits a 12-hour, with the first four hours in a bright blue and the rest in green. Designed for effortless legibility, it incorporates luminous baton-style indexes and hands, ensuring visibility in low-light conditions. The bold orange seconds hand brings an additional pop of colour to the dial. A day-date window sits at 3 o’clock, while the Seiko 5 Sports logo appears in black beneath the 12 o’clock marker.

The Bracelet:

The watch elegantly rests on a 3-link oyster-style stainless steel bracelet, treated to a brushed finish. It secures around the wrist through a three-fold push-button deployment clasp.

The Functions:

Seiko’s 4R36 automatic movement, with 24 jewels, operates at 21,600 beats per hour, providing a substantial 40-hour power reserve. The inclusion of Seiko Diashock safeguards the internal mechanisms from potential damage due to drops or impacts. Expected to gain/lose between +45/-35 seconds daily, the watch boasts water resistance up to 100 meters, suitable for swimming and snorkelling.
