This antique George V Britannia* standard silver porringer has a circular shaped form in the Charles II style.
This antique porringer is embellished with an embossed unicorn illustration to one side and a lion to the other.
The body is further ornamented with large leaf and floral designs to either side of the handles.
This impressive Britannia standard silver porringer is fitted with two C scroll handles with bifurcating lower terminals.
The underside bears the retailer"s mark "Tessiers, London".
* Britannia standard silver was introduced by the British government in 1697 to denote an alloy of silver containing 95.84% silver, with the balance usually copper. Since the hallmarking changes of 1999 Britannia silver has been denoted by the hallmark 958.
