- A stunning and unusual vintage yellow ochre, black and gilt Carlton Ware art deco coffee cup and saucer.
- Presented in a 'Shagreen' pattern consists of a satin black lower band with a yellow ochre band above, this has a pattern in the yellow resembling shagreen or shark skin. the rim and interior are heavily gilded in gold, this gives a real sparkle to this fine finish.
- The "Carlton Ware" pottery was founded in 1890 in Stoke-on-Trent and traded under the name of Wiltshaw and Robinson.
- The trademark "Carlton Ware" was introduced in 1894.
- Famous for their beautiful rich tableware in the 1920s and 30s, Carlton Ware produced hand-painted domestic pottery in high art deco styles.
- The pattern number is 3054 (marked on plate).
- The makers mark is on the base.
- The delicate cup is approx 62 mm tall and 58 mm in diameter at the rim.
- The saucer is approx 110 mm in diameter.
- A beautiful art deco display piece.
- The metal stand is not included.
