Sunflowers are just the most amazing and gorgeous flowers, the epitome of late Summer in the country! I love photographing sunflowers. Often, bees can be found on the big centre of the sunflower.

This small acrylic painting on gallery wrapped stretched canvas is an original piece that I drew and painted onto a small primed gallery wrapped canvas. The inspiration is taken from 2 photos I myself shot a couple summers ago. I chose to place one bee on the bottom right of the flower's yellow petals, the focal point of the painting really. This small 6"x6" painting is ready to hang, does not need framing, as it can be hung right from the wire on back (back shown before hanging hardware was attached).

My style of painting is a loose sort of expressive realism, where my brush strokes are quite apparent, though I don't work in raised brush stokes, more of a dry brushing dragging method, I always have. The background to the bright golden yellow flower and green leaves is deep dark blue with hints of subtle deep red accents. I particularly love the dropping 2nd flower which leaves the picture plane. The sides of the painting are rich copper brown I do not sign the front of these small paintings as I feel it detracts from them. Your painting will be signed by me on the bottom stretcher, painted edge.
