This exquisite thangka showcases an authentic
representation of Green Tara, skillfully rendered on canvas using natural
pigments that not only capture the vibrancy of colors but also adhere to the
tradition of creating sacred art. The accompanying silk brocade adds an extra
layer of elegance, enhancing the overall aesthetic of this spiritual
masterpiece.
Green Tara, considered the spiritual consort of Amogasiddhi
Buddha, holds a special place in Buddhist tradition. She is revered as a symbol
of compassion, wisdom, and protection. Devotees believe in her ability to
bestow good fortune and prosperity, making this thangka a potent spiritual
artifact.
What sets this thangka apart is its "NARROW
BORDER," a departure from the conventional wide brocade seen in
traditional thangkas. The absence of silk covering the face of the painting
distinguishes it further, offering a unique visual experience. This departure
from the norm is not just an aesthetic choice; it is a practical one. The
narrow border ensures that the thangka is more adaptable to limited spaces,
making it a versatile addition to any sacred or personal setting.
In essence, this thangka harmoniously balances tradition
and innovation. While staying true to the sacred imagery and cultural
significance of Green Tara, it also addresses practical concerns by optimizing
space usage. The result is a spiritually charged work of art that seamlessly
integrates into contemporary living spaces, inviting the divine presence of
Green Tara into the hearts and homes of those who behold it.

The thangka is not a flat creation like an oil painting or

Generally, thangkas last a very long time and retain much of
their luster, but because of their delicate nature, they have to be kept in dry
places where moisture won't affect the quality of the painting.
The Thangkas serve as important teaching tools depicting the
life of the Buddha, various influential lamas and other deities and
Bodhisattvas.
The Thangka, when
created properly, perform several different functions. Images of deities can be
used as teaching tools when depicting the life (or lives) of the Buddha,
describing historical events concerning important Lamas, or retelling myths
associated with other deities.
The Devotional images act as the centerpiece during a ritual
or ceremony and are often used as mediums through which one can offer prayers
or make requests.
