Description

From Sabre To Raptor [F-86 F-22] Artist Proof Print Signed by Mike Machat

Mike Machat's artistic jet research included flight experiences in numerous 'exotic' aircraft types.  Mike has flown with NASA, the Blue Angels, and the USAF Test Pilot School, and was the first Air Force Artist to fly in the Rockwell B-1B Lancer and Grumman F-14 Tomcat in a U.S. Navy exchange program.  Mike Machat's Art sells incredibly quickly.

Here are a few words about this fine art stunning Artist Proof Limited Edition Print by Mike Machat:

"When the Air Force Flight Test Center was established on 25 June 1951, Edwards AFB was already the de facto center of American flight research, test and development.

The turbojet revolution in America had been launched at the base with the first flight of the XP-59A in October 1942 and Chuck Yeager had achieved the supersonic breakthrough in the X-1 in October 1947.

Thus the new Flight Test Center already had a uniquely solid foundation and, over the next five decades,

it would build on it impressively. From the F-86 to the F-22, the B-52 to the B-2, the C-124 to the C-17, and from the X-1 to the X-15 and the Space Shuttle, the AFFTC has played a pre-eminent role in the forging the future of the SAF and, indeed, the world of aerospace in general.

The Edwards Flight Test Center has tested and supported the development of virtually every aircraft that has entered the USAF inventory and it has been involved in more major milestones in flight than any other comparable organization in the world."

There were only 100 of From Sabre To Raptor [F-86 F-22] Artist Proof Prints Signed by Mike Machat available for the Worldwide market, and each comes with its own Mike Machat signed Certificate of Authenticity [CoA]. The Limited Edition Print had a run of 1,000 Worldwide.

The incredibly beautiful From Sabre To Raptor [F-86 F-22] Artist Proof Print Signed by Mike Machat captures all the vivid color and brilliance of the original Mike Machat work of art.

The ‘hallmark’ of a Master Aviation Artist is in their ability to illustrate many different angles of aircraft in flight in their artwork.  The exceptional construct of this art is the ‘low pass' of a F-86 Sabre 'shadowed by the F-22 Raptor in loose formation, putting you as a spectator at the side of the Edwards Air Force Base Runway, a 5th Generation Jet formate on a 1st Generation Jet that between them span 5 decades of Fighter Jet research and development.

This stunning From Sabre To Raptor [F-86 F-22] Artist Proof Print Signed by Mike Machat is a important signed historical art piece for any collection.  It is a wonderful and unique record of that exciting time in World, X-Plane; Jet and Rocket Powered Aircraft and Space Vehicle history.

There were many iconic Aviation and Space Aircraft in the 20th and now the 21st Century and the Edwards Air Force Flight Test Programs literally carved the Aviation and Space future that we have today!

Mission Profile (source Wikipedia)

The North American F-86 Sabre, sometimes called the Sabrejet, is a transonic jet fighter aircraft. Produced by North American Aviation, the Sabre is best known as the United States' first swept wing fighter that could counter the similarly-winged Soviet MiG-15 in high-speed dogfights in the skies of the Korean War (1950-1953), fighting some of the earliest jet-to-jet battles in history.

Considered one of the best and most important fighter aircraft in that war, the F-86 is also rated highly in comparison with fighters of other eras. Although it was developed in the late 1940s and was outdated by the end of the 1950s, the Sabre proved versatile and adaptable and continued as a front-line fighter in numerous air forces.

Its success led to an extended production run of more than 7,800 aircraft between 1949 and 1956, in the United States, Japan, and Italy. Variants were built in Canada and Australia. The Canadair Sabre added another 1,815 airframes, and the significantly redesigned CAC Sabre (sometimes known as the Avon Sabre or CAC CA-27), had a production run of 112. The Sabre is by far the most produced Western jet fighter, with total production of all variants at 9,860 units.

The Boeing F-22 Raptor is a fifth-generation, single-seat, twin-engine, all-weather stealth tactical fighter aircraft developed for the United States Air Force (USAF). The result of the USAF's Advanced Tactical Fighter program, the aircraft was designed primarily as an air superiority fighter, but also has ground attack, electronic warfare, and signal intelligence capabilities. The prime contractor, Lockheed Martin, built most of the F-22's airframe and weapons systems and conducted final assembly, while Boeing provided the wings, aft fuselage, avionics integration, and training systems.

The aircraft was variously designated F-22 and F/A-22 before it formally entered service in December 2005 as the F-22A. The USAF considers the F-22 critical to its tactical air power, and says that the aircraft is unmatched by any known or projected fighter. The Raptor's combination of stealth, aerodynamic performance, and situational awareness gives the aircraft unprecedented air combat capabilities.

The high cost of the aircraft, a lack of clear air-to-air missions due to delays in Russian and Chinese fighter programs, a ban on exports, and the development of the more versatile F-35 led to the end of F-22 production. The last F-22 was delivered to the USAF in 2012.

Collectors' Hints (Space and Aviation Firsts © 2017-2023).

Collectors' Hint 1 - What is an 'Artist Proof' Limited Edition Artist Proof Print?

'Artist Proofs' is a special early subset of the regular limited edition, limited to the first 10% of the print run.  An ‘Artist Proof’ is just that, an ‘Artist Proof’ and may or may not be numbered at the discretion of the Artist.  They therefore usually sell for 20-50% more than the regular edition print.

The 'Artist Proofs' are the first prints pulled off a fresh "stone", the plate which was drawn or etched by the artist to create the Limited Edition Canvas Prints.

A really serious Collector usually prefers the 'Artists Proof' if one can be obtained, because of the extra value they represent and the status they have in the market and as an investment.

Collectors Hint 2 - What is a 'Lithograph' Limited Edition Print?

Lithograph is a print created by running paper through a four-color press (red, yellow, blue, and black) making a full-color reproduction of an original painting in large quantities (usually 500-1,000).

If signed and numbered, it is a "Limited Edition" Print, and all materials and plates used in making the print are destroyed to ensure that the edition will never be reproduced again.

Premium Art - Limited Edition Prints utilising the Lithographic printing technique for very high quality provide 'Stand Out Impressiveness' upon your Wall.

Collectors Hint 3 - Acquisition of 'Rare' Historical Offerings!

I now try to obtain 'rare' offerings when they appear as I lost out on a few key Historical Pieces due to hesitating.

One was an X-15 photograph signed by 11 of the 12 surviving X-15 Pilots at the time, one being Neil Armstrong.  I have never seen a similar opportunity again during the past 25 years.  I suggest when an opportunity presents itself; please make the decision as to your collection focus and then act so you do not miss out!
