This is a  fantastic combination of Rarely available First Edition advanced Aviation Photography books with stunning full-colour photographs!!

Professional Aviation Photography really came into its own in the 1980s and 1990s as aviation photographers defined the Art of Professional Aviation Photography and its Techniques, and found they could finally make a career for themselves photographing Aircraft in their fast; harsh and beautiful environments.

Featured are great Airshows of the USA which came to achieve their True International and Worldwide fame and prominence in the 1980s and 1990s

Both of these books contain amazing double-page spreads and are beautifully written. They are from my private library and have been stored, never displayed, and viewed less than 3 times each.  They are pristine. My library was precious to me.

This is a very restricted opportunity in time and availability to acquire these magnificent 'historical books' of aviation literary significance, from true pioneers of professional aviation photography.

The feedback on my First Editions drawn from my Private Libary has always been 100% due to the total care amd protection they have always received.

Space and Aviation Firsts is an International Store having sold into more than 40 countries. Shipping is included within Australia and Internationally for a small nominal fee as my gift to you.

Description

About "Airshows USA" Philip Handleman 1988 First Edition Book

From the Author's Introduction: "After years of patronizing Airshows and even flying in some, I decided the time had come to compile a permanent record of an American Airshow Season.  This book hopefully conveys at least a flavour of the [1987] American Airshow Circuit."

Featured are Oshkosh; Reno and The Confederate Air Force "Wings of Freedom". Here are a few words about each book:

Oshkosh: EAA AirVenture Oshkosh (formerly the EAA Annual Convention and Fly-In), or just Oshkosh, is an annual air show and gathering of aviation enthusiasts held each summer at Wittman Regional Airport and adjacent Pioneer Airport in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, United States. The southern part of the show grounds, as well as Camp Scholler, are located in the town of Nekimi and a base for seaplanes on Lake Winnebago is in Black Wolf.

Reno:

The Reno Air Races, officially known as the STIHL National Championship Air Races, is a multi-day event tailored to the aviation community that takes place each September at the Reno Stead Airport a few miles north of Reno, Nevada. Air racing is billed as "the world's fastest motor sport" and Reno is one of the few remaining venues. The event includes races in six classes and demonstrations by airshow pilots.

The Reno Air Races include two and a half days of qualifying, followed by four and a half days of multi-aircraft heat racing, culminating in the Unlimited Class Gold Race on Sunday afternoon. The event also features civil airshow acts and military flight demonstrations between races, plus vendor areas and a large civil and military static aircraft display.

The Commemorative Air Force (CAF): Is an American non-profit organization based in Dallas, Texas dedicated to preserving and showing historical aircraft at airshows primarily throughout the U.S. and Canada.

By the end of the war, America had produced nearly 300,000 aircraft. Just 15 years later, almost all the warbirds were gone. Decommissioned and stripped of armament and instruments, most of these proud warriors were scrapped or abandoned. No one, not even the Air Force or Navy, was preserving the historic aircraft that changed the world forever.

Today, the Commemorative Air Force comprises over 12,000 members, including more than seventy regional groups, called wings or detachments, in twenty-seven states and four other countries. Several hundred members actively serve as pilots and flight and/or maintenance crew members committed to preserving American combat aviation heritage. The CAF is an all-volunteer organization, made up of members from all backgrounds. Membership is open to everyone age 18 or older, and cadet membership is available for those over 12 years of age.

This book illustrates those exciting moments, in the many photographs in the double-page spreads, of USA Airshows in 1987 a fantastic Aviation Literary and Photographic Record.

About "Oshkosh" Colin Addison 1990 First Edition Book

The Oshkosh Airshow is arranged by the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA), an international general aviation organization based in Oshkosh, and is the largest of its kind in the world. The show lasts a week, usually beginning on the Monday of the last full week in July. During the gathering, the airport's control tower, frequency 118.5, is the busiest in the world.

Set in the exciting 1980s decade as homebuilts really started to expand significantly as a 'movement' in its own right. Oshkosh becoming the most famous fly-in in the World.

The Homebuilts featured in this decade ultimately became a part trigger for General Aviation [GA] manufacturing to react, and begin to use some of the homebuilts materials in manufacturing. From that foundation, the outstanding range of Light-Sport Aircraft [LSA] began to evolve into another magnificent part of the aviation market.

For many years, its official name was The EAA Annual Convention and Fly-In. In 1998, the name was changed to AirVenture Oshkosh, but many regular attendees still call it as The Oshkosh Airshow or just Oshkosh. For many years, access to the flight line was restricted to EAA members. In 1997, the fee structure for the show was changed allowing all visitors access to the entire grounds. EAA AirVenture holds nearly 1,000 forums and workshops,  in addition to their many vendors which bring a variety of aircraft supplies, general merchandise, and name brand sponsors such as Piper, Cessna, Cirrus, and many others.

Collectors' Hint - Acquisition of 'Rare' Historical Offerings!

I now try to obtain 'rare' offerings when they appear as I lost out on a few key Historical Pieces due to hesitating.

One was an X-15 photograph signed by 11 of the 12 surviving X-15 Pilots at the time, one being Neil Armstrong.  I have never seen a similar opportunity again during the past 25 years.

I suggest when an opportunity presents itself such as this; please make the decision as to your collection focus and then act so you do not miss out!

Notes:

This is serious and enjoyable premium quality Art Space and Aviation Collecting.  If an offer is to be made, please understand the offer needs to be very seriously 'close'!
