Outstanding in their larger format, these are some of the great aviation photographs of the late 1980s and 1990s recognised as some of the best of all time and taken by Professional Aviation Photographers who know their craft.

  1. Supershow contains aviation photography by Philip Handleman; Mike Jerram; Nigel Moll; Norman Pealing and Philip Wallick.
  2. Superbirds contains aviation photographs by Michael O'Leary; Mike Jerram and Norman Pealing.

This is one of the most ‘historically important’ Aviation Photography records reflecting the beauty and commitment to restored aircraft in that era, and the fantastic photography skills with the cameras that had become available in the 1980s and 1990s which were far superior to the cameras of the 1950s; 1960s and 1970s.

Increasing the impact of the photographs is that both Supershow 'Air Racing' and Superbirds 'Gunfighters Bomb Haulers' are larger format size books at 9 5/8th" inches [24.3cms] wide by 12" inches [30.5cms] height approx.

2] Superbirds 'Gunfighters Bomb Haulers' - Here is a Precis for this book and its Chapter Titles:

2a] Superbirds From the Introduction

The vast majority if the historic warplanes from World War 2 were junked by the thousand in peacetime, some types lost forever to the breakers cutting torches.  Happily, there is today a greater awareness of the value of such treasures, and that awareness is being channeled not just to static preservation in Museums, laudable though many of them are but to the maintenance and creation of airworthy aircraft - warbirds.

It represents the combat aircraft and pilot at their purest, man and machine unfettered by the electronic gadgetry of modern push-button fire-and-forget warfare.

Currently, many fine examples of restored World War 2 and Korean War aircraft grace our skies.  This book attempts to illustrate most of them and recall an era in history whose lessons, hopefully, will not be forgotten.  The contributors [The photographers] trust that you, the reader, will enjoy it.

2b] The Superbirds Chapters:
  • Wild Horses: P-51 Mustang
  • Bird of Prey: P-40 Warhawk
  • Sea Fighters: F8 Bearcat, F6 Hellcat, F4 Wildcat
  • Air Pirate: F4U Corsair
  • Stormy Weather: P-47 Thunderbolt and P-38 Lightning
  • Light Fantastic 1: TBM Avenger
  • Light Fantastic 2: AD Skyraider
  • Medium Marvel: B-25 Mitchell
  • Medium Marvel: A-26 Invader
  • Medium Cool: PV-2 Harpoon, B-26 Marauder, A-20 Havoc
  • Heavyweight Champion 1: B-17 Flying Fortress
  • Heavyweight Champion 2: B-24 Liberator
  • Heavyweight Champion 3: B-29 Superfortress
These books are beautifully written in a very readable way, clearly articulating the 'passion and commitment' of the Pilots and the Ground and Technical Crews.

The 'hallmark features' of these books that excited Aviation Collectors were the outstanding qualitative photographs taken while flying in close formation, or beautifully static on the ground.

The photographs and the beautiful narrative 'place you right there as another observer participant' in a way that many publications prior had tried to achieve.

There were many iconic Space and Aviation restorations and airshows in the 20th Century.

The Supershow and Superbirds photographers were right there to bring the aircraft involved to the interested public.

This is a very restricted opportunity in time and availability to acquire these magnificent and historical Supershow 'Air Racing' and Superbirds 'Gunfighters Bomb Haulers'Osprey British First Edition Hardbacks for any collectors library.

Collectors Hint - Acquisition of 'Rare' Historical Offerings!

I now try to obtain 'rare' offerings when they appear as I lost out on a few key Historical Pieces due to hesitating.

One was an X-15 photograph signed by 11 of the 12 surviving X-15 Pilots at the time, one being Neil Armstrong.  I have never seen a similar opportunity again during the past 25 years.

I suggest when an opportunity presents itself; please make the decision as to your collection focus and then act so you do not miss out!

Note: This is serious and enjoyable premium quality Art Space and Aviation Collecting.  If an offer is to be made, please understand the offer needs to be very seriously ‘close’!
