Description

Washers have a round hole and are also called washers, for example. The mechanical characteristics of NBR include high abrasion resistance, good tensile and tear strength and low compression set. With regard to the thermal properties, the elastomer is temperature-resistant between a maximum of -30 °C and +120 °C - depending on the specific composition and the proportion of acrylonitrile.
NBR in standard material quality has a medium acrylonitrile content in order to cover the widest possible range of applications. As a standard material, the material shows good mechanical values, including good resistance to mineral oil-based lubricating oils and greases and to water up to around +80° C.

If the acrylonitrile content is rather low, the resistance to oils and fuels is reduced. On the other hand, the material is significantly more flexible at low temperatures. A high proportion of acrylonitrile impairs mechanical behavior at low temperatures, but improves resistance to oils and fuels. In general, the temperature resistance of NBR is lower than that of EPDM.
In general, NBR is impermeable to gas and air, which is why the material is well suited for use in industry and in gas supply.

As a rule, seals and other components made of silicone are suitable for use in environments with a temperature range between -60°C and +210°C.
In addition, the sealing material is weatherproof due to its resistance to ozone and UV radiation.
Due to its high temperature resistance and good mechanical properties, silicone is an excellent material for seals and sealing profiles.
