This exceptional vintage Elizabeth II sterling silver and painted wood presentation set consists of a trowel and mallet.
The sterling silver presentation trowel has a rounded blade.
The anterior face of the blade is plain and features the contemporary engraved presentation inscription:
"Presented to Mrs. G.G.H.Bolton on the inauguration of Parkside Colliery, 28th May 1957’.
The reverse of the blade is plain and unembellished, apart from the registration number "1109S".
This vintage sterling silver trowel retains the original turned painted wood handle and hallmarked ferrule.
The turned painted wood presentation mallet has a circular rounded form with a tapering cylindrical, baluster shaped handle.
The vintage mallet is fitted with a silver plaque to the base, engraved with the aforementioned contemporary engraved inscription.
This impressive ceremonial silver trowel and mallet is fitted to the original hinged leatherette presentation box with satin and velvet lined interior, securing with two hinged catches.
The interior of the box bears the retailer’s mark of ‘Terry & Co. Goldsmiths & Silversmiths, Corner of Cross St & King St, Manchester.’

The pieces have been professionally polished and are in presentation condition.
The box is in excellent presentation condition.
Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the blade and mallet, in addition to part hallmarks to the ferrule are all very clear.
