In 1918 this aspiring Japanese whisky distiller travelled to Scotland to learn organic chemistry and the malt whisky production process. 2 years later he returned to Japan after marrying Glasgow lass, Jessie Roberta "Rita" Cowan, and established Nikka Whisky Distilling in 1934, after working with Kotobukiya for several years. Best served neat, Nikka Black Deep Blend Whisky is a 45% ABV Japanese Blended Whisky that is produced using malt matured in new oak barrels and aged in Cafe grain malts.
