Middle of the Persian Gulf War. On April 3, 2004, pilgrims celebrating the holiday of Ashura came to the Iraqi city of Karbala. Unexpectedly, in a city full of people, there are attacks that precede the attack on the strategic City Hall - the seat of local authorities and police. Only a handful of Polish and Bulgarian… soldiers remain on the battlefield.
"Karbala" is a film that brings back the memory of the newest Polish heroes, whose victory in the defense of City Hall was shrouded in mystery for a long time. The film reveals the backstage of the Polish mission in Iraq and is inspired by a true story Lt. Col. Grzegorz Kaliciak, who commanded a unit of Polish and Bulgarian ... soldiers in Karbala.
