From the Ashes of the Warsaw Ghetto to the Back Alleys of Gotham City...

The Tatterdemalion of the Oppressed Rises Again...

Rory Regan’s father, Gerry, had come from the Warsaw ghetto to America, hoping to give his son a better life. He had known war, so he cried when Rory was drafted to serve in Viet Nam. But his son came home, albeit scarred from the experience, and Gerry thought their wars were finally over. Little did he dream that they would soon be fighting another war at home. Gerry and son ran a small pawn shop in the old neighborhood called Rags ’n’ Tatters. They ran an honest business, trying to help people down on their luck. Unfortunately, the mob had designs on their store, seeing it as a perfect place to deal drugs from. When Gerry refused to give in to them, they killed him and gravely wounded Rory. Rory recovered and revisited the store, finding a strange suit of rags. When he wore it, he became Ragman with the mystical power to capture the souls of evildoers in the rags of his suit, then compel them to do his bidding.

Story/Spoilers:

In issue #1, "Mother Drum”, The tattered tatterdemalion is back! When Ragman investigates a series of grisly murders in New Orleans, he embarks on a trail that leads far beyond the realm of mere human crimes. Summoned by the wrathful cries of murdered children, Marinette, voodoo goddess of vengeance, has descended upon the Crescent City - and brings with her bloody retribution. Faced with this demonic threat, Rory Regan must once again don his suit of souls to battle a menace that won't rest until New Orleans is a lifeless charnel house; but before he can hope to stop the bloodthirsty spirit, Ragman must first unravel more of the mystery surrounding his unholy powers. Only then does Ragman begin to understand the cry of the dead and how to silence it.

Next in issue #2, "Child’s Play", The rags demand vengeance on a mother responsible for the murder of her own child, but even vengeance may not silence the cries of the dead. Meanwhile, Marinette, the angry goddess, continues her reign of blood in New Orleans.

Next in issue #3, "Mange Moun!", In her quest to bring New Orleans to its knees, Marinette, the voodoo spirit of vengeance, turns an exclusive country club into a slaughterhouse. But as Ragman battles the bloodthirsty entity, danger strikes even closer to home.

Next in issue #4, "Blood Sacrifice", Assisted by a voodoo cult, Rory Regan attempts to exorcise the bloodthirsty spirit of Marinette from his lover's body...but it all goes horribly wrong, costing Rory the power of Ragman and precipitating the return of his greatest foe.

Next in issue #5, "Kanzo! Baptism of Fire", With his suit of souls stolen by Marinette, Rory Regan enters a bargain with Ogoun, the voodoo god of battle, for the power to stop Marinette's threat...but even that power might not be enough to stop the Ragdemon from turning the Mardi Gras Kings' Parade into a funeral procession.

Finally in issue #6, "Cheval Blanc!!", Bereft of his Ragman powers, Rory Regan wages a desperate battle with the vengeful goddess Marinette to save New Orleans from her bloody wrath...but even the added might of the Golem isn't enough to keep death at bay.
