Murano, Italy likely Venini by Carlo Scarpa

• Battuto; frequently called Martele

• Pillar Candle Holder

• Amber

• Mid-Century Vintage Art Glass c.1950-60's

• Measurements: 12 3/4" high, 4 1/8" rim diameter, 3 3/8" inner diameter (slightly out-of-round as expected) and 4" base diameter

• Weight, both: 5 lbs 13.6 oz

• Condition: The candle holders are free of chips, cracks and scratches.

The glass is high quality with nice thickness, excellent clarity and minimal flaws. The candle cup and body are hand blown and fire polished.

The pattern is cut (not molded or formed) and hand done covering almost the entirety of the piece.

The quality and techniques are indicative of Carlo Scarpa at the Venini Glass Company of Murano, however the piece is unsigned and a handful of other Italian artisans (Davide Salvadore being the best known), have created the pattern.
