I read that the Red Wing Pottery Chef Clock was designed by Charles Murphy and they were only run 1947- 48. My brother-in-law, a Red, Wing Mn. native, purchased a semi load of Red Pottery when the Red Wing factory was closing up operations (all or part?) more than 40 years ago. We purchased a crate of these chef clocks from him after his retirement and went about trying to find a clock mechanism to fit. We found a battery clock online that fit the clock, so it is new and unused, uses 1 AA battery and works great and looks great in the vintage clock! In order to stabilize it with a good tight, stable fit I put 3 small pieces of double sided tape around the inner lip which is not visible from the outside. When the time comes to change the battery or reset the time, the clock will have to be gently but firmly pushed forward from the back side in order to remove the back cover plate from the clock and then possibly replace the double sided tape at that time as well.

The clock is approximately 10 inches high, and 8 inches from ‘elbow to elbow’.
