Lifetime China was one of several Marketing/Decorating companies loosely affiliated with The Homer Laughlin China Company in the Alliance, Ohio area.  They purchased HLC "Blanks" and hand applied various decorations. Clustered around the Ohio River Valley in Alliance, Ohio and nearby towns was a group of companies that had a relationship with Homer Laughlin and the other Larger Potteries in the area. Best described as Marketing Companies and/or sort of a Sub-contractors, they would buy "blanks" from the larger companies and apply their own decorative decal by hand, over-stamping the piece with their own special "Mark" or back stamp on of these being Lifetime China Co. Lord of the garden indeed! And in this case, lord of the kitchen also. One of the prettiest flowering trees in the world, magnolias have a way of adding a little enchantment to the day. This plate brings the beauty of the outside inside, straight to the table where good food blooms. Made by Homer Laughlin in 1957, this plate bears not the markings of the maker, but the back-stamps of the distributor - the Lifetime China Corporation, which was based in Alliance, Ohio.  Homer Laughlin produced a variety of magnolia-centric patterns, but this is one of our most favorite designs based on the colorful palette. With a rim of Tiffany color blue and a center flower of soft white, evergreen, mint, butter, grey, beige and brown, its bright and stylish but also neutral and compliments surprisingly well, a wide variety of colors and foods. It also has the added design benefit of looking just as great displayed on a wall as it does on the table.
