I met the model who posed for this painting in stockings several years ago. As a young woman, as a free spirit, she had often found herself in unpleasant situations. My studio became her sanctuary. It became a safe to model and a place where someone would listen to her. Her joy soon returned, as one can see in this portrait. 

This painting is created in charcoal, Liquitex professional acrylic paints on canvas. The work is signed. I provide a certificate of authenticity.


About the Artist

A renowned contemporary artist with over 40 years of professional practice, Stewart Fletcher has a degree in Fine Arts from John Abbott College and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Concordia University. Fletcher’s paintings, drawings and works on paper have been the subject of numerous solo and group exhibitions over the past forty years, and his paintings and drawings are in over 400 private and corporate collections in 20 countries. He is in the studio daily and has an art gallery open to the public.

Known for his fascination with the human body, Fletcher explores various concepts that go beyond the representational image. He is also passionate about metaphysics, compositional space and the interplay between colours. He often uses humour and satire to convey his message.
