Here in larger than original format which is a copy of a 1951 magazine article on how to build a one cylinder 4 cycle gasoline engine in miniature.   This construction article was written by Gary Moore. The engine was designed by Elmer Wall.  There have been many of these engines built by amateur machinists and skilled professionals alike.

This little air cooled engine is somewhat of a challenge to build, it is 1 1/4" Bore and Stroke and is capable of producing one horsepower!

It is an advanced model builder project, can be built on a 6" lathe and small drill press.  A good understanding of lathe setups and operations is required, it is not a beginner project.  A good description of all parts and profiles of castings are in the article.

The article includes 10 pages of easy to follow instructions and good clear drawings.  The original copies and all that we have found to date are heavily Foxed or browned and the paper is usually brittle and breaks or disintegrates with handling, we have scanned and color corrected the originals and increased the format size to 8 1/2 x 11 from the original small magazine size to make the prints easier to use.  Three pages of the text are shown which demonstrate the clarity of this set of instructions.  You will receive all 10 pages.  Understand that the original text was printed on pulp magazine paper which has turned brown in the 70 + or so years since it was originally published.

A supplemental sheet of material and casting sources is included and there are 20 castings to machine, lots of small parts to make and fit.  When completed this is an engine to be proud of!
