The old BMW boxers R6 to R71 have contact ignition controlled via the camshaft and manual ignition adjustment. The camshaft often has a lot of play or the two cams are closed to different extents, making it impossible to set the same ignition timing for the two cylinders. The digital ignition system works with a micro-computer to calculate all the necessary parameters. Thanks to the maximum precision of our digital ignition, the engine runs smoother, has better throttle response, comes off the gas faster and pulls through more powerfully. Absolutely the same ignition timing of both cylinders (through separately adjustable magnets in the rotor) and thus optimal engine idling possible. The ignition timing is recalculated every revolution of the crankshaft. Ignition adjustment is automatic, the manual adjustment lever and the train only remain for visual reasons. The engine always has the correct ignition timing in Allen speed ranges, which is a huge improvement in engine operation.

The characteristic ignition consists of an ignition box and Double ignition coil mounted on a holding plate, a Hall sender with mounting plate, a rotor with magnets, two spark plug connectors, Allen required screws and detailed assembly instructions.
